NEW CONSTRUCTION
Designing a Zero E Home requires meticulous planning. All details are new and different. 90% of the energy savings are achieved in the Design Phase. Therefore you need detailed plans which will make construction a breeze and save you money.

Conceptual Design
In this phase we review the program and parameters of the project, develop ideas and establish the budget for construction.

Computer Energy Modeling (PHPP)
All projects undergo rigorous and detailed energy modeling using the Passive House’s own energy modeling program called PHPP. This tool is the key to achieving the targeted deep energy savings and has been refined and field tested over many years proving itself to be closest to real life performance. The PHPP is at the heart of the planning process. It is the design tool which determines the details, insulation levels, performance of all building components, mechanical systems and more.

Construction Documents/ Permit Plans/ Book of Details and Specifications
All digital plans contain very specific information necessary to achieve the deep energy savings. Therefore our plans exceed the details and information of a conventional construction project. All plans are developed for the builder with thorough detailing and practical and easily accessible information. This eliminates mistakes, head scratching and assures time savings on the job site.
The Book of Details and Specifications contains additional information about sequences, procedures, specific protocols, materials, suppliers, and schedules necessary to assure the quality of the project.
Site Supervision
In this phase we provide guidance to the builder and owner with any questions, decisions or changes that might come up. It is typical to educate the builder who is not familiar with the specifics of the Passive House approach helping him to understand and achieve the desired quality.

HOME ENERGY AUDITS
An energy audit is the next higher level after an inspection. The building is diagnosed using a blower door test to identify heat lost due to air infiltration and an infrared camera to find under insulated areas and thermal bridges. We will look for thermal bypass issues, assess your heating system and you will receive a report with recommendations improving the situation based on cost and effect.
